The LCS-QC is the industry’s first portable locomotive remote control system incorporating speed control while fully complying with 49 CFR § 229.15 and 49 CFR § 229 sub-part E regulations. Engineered for peak efficiency, this versatile system excels in flat yard switching, loop track loading and unloading, and various other railyard applications where remote control significantly boosts productivity and safety.
Designed with the operator in mind, the LCS-QC can be installed on any locomotive equipped with an AAR-standard MU connection in under 10 minutes. Its ‘install and switch’ approach allows for rapid setup and removal, making it ideal for operations that require flexibility. This seamless integration means you can convert foreign locomotives to remote operations without altering the host locomotive, allowing for uninterrupted workflow across different rail systems.
The LCS-QC supports RF and is compatible with the 450 MHz STS or 220 MHz CAI models of the OCU-III. It includes an embedded GNSS location and wireless link to the internal archive record, pushing positional data to the RCL system. The system enhances safety by providing robust Train Brake Cycle Braking Protection, built-in historical data logging for performance tracking and incident investigation, and continuous self-monitoring for peak performance and safety.
Expand the functionality of the LCS-QC with a RemoteIQ™ Rail subscription for real-time tracking and analytics of the OCU for enhanced operational oversight and access to archive logs, configuration and maintenance information to identify, troubleshoot and resolve operational issues quickly.

OCU-III
Feature-rich OCU-III operator control unit that includes an embedded GNSS location, a patented method for pushing OCU positional data to the RCL system, a wireless link to the internal archive record and a Wi-Fi port to accommodate future expansion (450 MHz STS or 220 MHz CAI models)
Dynamic Speed Control
Cattron’s patented speed control system streamlines operation by handling the complexities of throttle and brake manipulation to maintain the selected speed regardless of track grade or train mass
Quick Installation
Supports an ‘install and switch’ model where the RCL system is installed (in less than 10 minutes) just before being used and uninstalled once the job is complete. Locomotives require an AAR-MU connection
Two-Way RF Communication
The OCU has digital feedback in the form of LEDs and text messages
GPS Positioning
Patented method for pushing OCU positional data to the RCL system
RF Range
One mile line-of-sight
Compliance
Compliant to 49 CFR § 229.15 and compatible with CCB-26 electronic brake system
ISO Certification
Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 certified operation
4G Connectivity
Permit users to connect to the RCL equipment through an internet connection remotely
Monitoring and Analytics
Access to asset tracking and maintenance software via the RemoteIQ Rail online platform
Asset Tracking
Monitor the location of fleet equipment and machinery within the railyard via VisiTek 600.
GPS Push
Send the OCU location to the onboard equipment, which is used to troubleshoot and investigate incidents
OCU Lock
Permit the operator to lock the OCU, which is useful for enforcing three-step protection
OCU-III Trainer
Pair your OCU-III to an OCU-III Trainer to elevate safety and oversight when training new OCU-III operators
Accessories
Maintenance Terminal PC Toll for monitoring, configuration, archive record access and maintenance information directly or between a PC and the RCL system
