It allows a seasoned trainer to be connected wirelessly to a trainee’s OCU-III controller. While the trainee operates the locomotive under real-world conditions, the trainer monitors all actions in real-time, with complete visibility into the controller’s display, switch states and even alert messages.
And the best part? The trainer can immediately override the trainee’s commands with an emergency stop using their own OCU, ensuring safety is never compromised.
How It Works
Paired for Precision
- Role-Defined Operation: Once connected, the trainee’s OCU behaves like a standard control unit, while the trainer’s OCU mirrors the trainee’s status in real-time.
- Emergency Braking Authority: Trainers can initiate a full emergency stop or intervene during fault conditions, such as GPS signal loss or tilt alerts.
- Visual and Audible Feedback: Trainers receive live OLED display mirroring and LED status indicators, complete with beeps for new events or warnings.
- Safe Distancing Logic: With GPS tracking, the system warns if trainer and trainee units exceed safe proximity thresholds, adding a further safeguard.
- Regulation-Ready: The system fully complies with federal regulations prohibiting more than two OCUs from controlling a locomotive. In this design, only trainee OCUs communicate with the locomotive, while trainer OCUs do not, ensuring compliance while enhancing supervision.
