In a world where smartphones can do almost anything a computer can, engine and pump control panels must keep up as technology continues evolving. Cattron is pushing the boundaries of what engine control panels can do and introducing advancements that were once unimaginable. Here are recent advancements that will allow you to connect more efficiently, control more flexibly and protect more proficiently.

Discover the Latest Advancements in User-Interfaces

Gone are the days of monochrome displays. User interfaces have evolved to offer high-resolution color displays, transforming how information is presented. With vibrant colors and clearer graphics, these advancements enable users to access more information and enjoy a better user experience. The introduction of higher-resolution displays has opened the door for QR codes, allowing users to scan them with their phones and access additional details, videos and how-to information. This empowers users with a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips.

Wider displays are another essential aspect of modern user interfaces. By offering more screen real estate, larger displays can showcase more information and accommodate application-specific dashboards. This means users can access all the data they need right in one place, making their tasks more efficient and user-friendly.

Revolutionizing Machine Control

The traditional rabbit/turtle controls have evolved into something more advanced. No longer limited to controlling just RPM, these controls can now be configured to regulate various machine outputs such as discharge pressure, flow rate, tank level and more.

One exciting feature is the pause function. By simply holding down the rabbit button, users can reach their target RPM without the hassle of timing each press of the button. This eliminates the frustration of overshooting or falling short of the desired output. Additionally, changes resulting from each press can vary depending on the current RPM range. This allows for more precise control and ensures optimal machine performance. The Smart Ramp Profile feature uses events, rather than time increments, to determine when to go to the next rpm stage. For example, the pump remains at the Intermediate RPM until the pipes are filled and the discharge pressure reaches an intermediate level.

The Power of Bluetooth®

Bluetooth is a game-changer when it comes to panel connectivity. Incorporating Bluetooth into panels eliminates the need for extensive wires and cables, providing a cleaner and more efficient setup. Like a wireless headset, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology ensures energy-efficient operations, allowing battery-driven sensors to last for years.

The possibilities are endless with Bluetooth. The number of sensors that can be connected is now unlimited, thanks to Bluetooth’s flexibility. The most significant advantage is monitoring and controlling pumps remotely using a phone or tablet app. No longer tied to being physically in front of the panel, users can access and interact with their pumping systems from almost anywhere on the job site.

Embracing IoT Telemetry Advancements

Telemetry management has never been easier, thanks to advancing technologies. Web portals give customers complete control over their IoT devices, allowing them to manage data plans, set up subscriptions and make changes effortlessly. Automatic provisioning onto cellular networks offers added convenience, allowing devices to be claimed by customers seamlessly. And where cellular services may be limited or unreliable, affordable satellite-link hardware and data prices provide a reliable alternative.

Safety is also a top priority. Robust cybersecurity measures ensure that devices are born with security, protecting against potential threats. Encrypted communications prevent hackers from eavesdropping or sending false commands, ensuring data integrity.

Complete Control for Electrified Applications

Why limit advanced UI to diesel-powered applications? Panels have become agnostic to power sources, allowing electric motor-powered applications to benefit from the same advanced controls. In the same fashion that a panel uses J1939 CAN to monitor and control a diesel engine, panels can now use ModBus to monitor and control a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) in an electrified machine. With its advanced UI and display, the panel can also configure the VFD over ModBus, eliminating having to use the typical VFD’s poor interfaces and confusing and complicated menus.

Unleash the Power of Machine Learning

Taking control panels to new heights, integrating machine learning into the control panel allows it to learn the unique characteristics of each application. This knowledge enables the system to proactively identify deviations from normal operational parameters and alert users to potential inefficiencies or issues. The panel becomes an onsite expert in that application, continuously monitoring operations for optimal performance.

In conclusion, advancements in engine and pump control panels are too significant to ignore. With hardware and software innovations, user-interface improvements and enhanced functionality, these advancements enable more efficient operations, seamless control and improved user experiences.
