The OCU-III Trainer is an innovative training tool for Cattron’s Remote Control Locomotive (RCL) systems, designed to enhance safety, supervision, and instruction. It wirelessly links a trainee’s OCU-III to an OCU-III Trainer, enabling real-time monitoring, emergency override, and fault response.
Compatible with LCS-III, LCS-QC, Accuspeed™, and Beltpack™ systems, it operates independently from the locomotive, ensuring a secure training environment without interfering with operations. The OCU-III Trainer does not connect to the Locomotive Control Unit, maintaining compliance with federal rules that limit locomotive control to two OCUs. Only the trainee’s OCU-III communicates with the locomotive.
The OCU-III Trainer receives real-time status from the trainee’s unit, including display data, alerts, and LED indicators. Instructors can trigger Full Service or Emergency Stop brakes and simulate faults based on GPS or range issues. This system boosts trainee confidence, enforces safe practices, and logs detailed session data.
