Radio Remote Control for Vacuum Tanks

Vacuum tanks are widely used across waste management, agriculture, and industrial cleaning industries. In this application, the machine is a PTO-driven vacuum tank powered by a tractor’s PTO drive, eliminating the need for a separate auxiliary engine. These tanks can be configured for simple transport, equipped with a boom for pumping out tanks and lagoons, or integrated with a vacuum alley sweeper system. An adjustable discharge nozzle located at the rear of the tank allows operators to unload directly or spray over fields using a fan pattern. At the same time, a wide range of customization options ensures tanks can be tailored to specific customer needs.

Solution Implemented

Cattron collaborated with Bailey International, a leading global provider of hydraulic components and electric controls, to integrate the Tyro™ Pyxis 2S handheld transmitter with the Aquarius 2S receiver to improve operator safety, efficiency and convenience. This radio remote control system allows operators to control vacuum tank functions in a PTO-driven configuration, either inside the tractor cab or from a safe distance outside the vehicle.

Remote Control in Action

The Tyro radio remote puts essential vacuum tank functions at the operator’s fingertips, including:

  • Start/Stop – Power the PTO-driven system on or shut it down remotely.
  • Back Gate – Open or close to control discharge.
  • Pump Pressure / Pump Vacuum – Manage tank performance for efficient loading or unloading.
  • SCR Gate – Open or close for controlled material flow.
  • Left/Right Wing In / Out – Adjust wings for cleaning or spreading operations.
  • Left/Right Scrape Up/Down – Fine-tune scraping actions for effective material handling.
  • Steering enable/disable – Rear wheels are locked or available for steering/rotation.

The application video demonstrates these functions in real time, showing how operators can move freely around the equipment while maintaining complete control.

Key Benefits of Radio Remote Control for Vacuum Tanks

  • Improved Operator Safety – Operate critical functions safely, keeping a safe distance from moving equipment and hazardous materials.
  • Greater Flexibility – Seamless transition between in-cab operation and remote control.
  • Increased Efficiency – Faster, more responsive control reduces downtime and maximizes productivity.
  • Supports Customization – Integrates easily with various vacuum tank configurations and customer-specific options.

Cattron delivers a proven radio remote control solution for PTO-driven vacuum tanks by installing the Tyro Pyxis transmitter and Aquarius receiver. This integration enhances safety, improves efficiency, and increases operator convenience. The video demonstration highlights the practical benefits of this wireless control system, demonstrating how operators can confidently manage tank functions from anywhere.
