Bailey International, a leading provider of hydraulic components and electric controls, needed a safer and more efficient way for operators to control PTO-driven vacuum tank systems. By integrating Cattron’s radio remote control solution, Bailey enabled operators to safely manage critical tank functions from inside the cab or from a safe distance outside the vehicle, improving both safety and productivity.

PTO-driven vacuum tanks are widely used across waste management, agriculture, and industrial cleaning applications. Their versatility makes them ideal for a range of loading, unloading, and material-handling tasks, but also creates challenges related to operator safety, visibility, and control.

The Challenge

Operating PTO-driven vacuum tanks often requires operators to work near moving equipment, pumps, valves, and other potentially hazardous components. Traditional operation can also limit visibility during loading, unloading, and cleaning tasks, increasing operational risks and reducing efficiency.

Bailey International sought a solution that would allow operators to maintain full control of vacuum tank functions while working from a safer location with better visibility of the surrounding environment.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Bailey International partnered with Cattron to integrate the Tyro™ Pyxis 2S handheld transmitter with the Tyro™ Aquarius 2S receiver.

The wireless control system enables operators to control key vacuum tank functions either from inside the tractor cab or remotely from a safe distance. The rugged Tyro platform delivers reliable performance in demanding agricultural, waste management, and industrial environments while providing the flexibility needed for a variety of tank configurations.

Key Functions Enabled by Tyro Radio Remote Control 

The Tyro radio remote puts essential vacuum tank functions at the operator’s fingertips, including: 

• Start/Stop – Power the PTO-driven system on or shut it down remotely. 
• Back Gate – Open or close to control discharge. 
• Pump Pressure / Pump Vacuum – Manage tank performance for efficient loading or unloading. 
• SCR Gate – Open or close for controlled material flow. 
• Left/Right Wing In / Out – Adjust wings for cleaning or spreading operations. 
• Left/Right Scrape Up/Down – Fine-tune scraping actions for effective material handling. 
• Steering enable/disable – Rear wheels are locked or available for steering/rotation.
