Aquavx™ Pro and ProPlus Are Now Compatible with FirstNet Communications

Cattron is proud to announce FirstNet-compatible versions of its Aquavx™ Pro and ProPlus remote monitoring and control devices. FirstNet is a nationwide wireless communications network dedicated to first responders and public safety officials. Developed in response to the communication challenges experienced during the 9/11 attacks, FirstNet provides prioritized, reliable and secure communication services to ensure public safety personnel remain connected during emergencies, disasters and day-to-day operations.

FirstNet is operated by AT&T and built on Band 14, a dedicated spectrum that provides enhanced coverage, even in rural and hard-to-reach areas. With network priority, preemption and resilient infrastructure, it is designed to keep first responders and critical infrastructure communicating when it matters most.

FirstNet benefits for Aquavx users include:

  • Priority Access and Preemption: Aquavx devices are given priority access to the network. Aquavx devices will be first in line to ensure mission-critical communications are transmitted without delay.
  • Extended Coverage: With its extensive infrastructure, including mobile satellite cell sites and deployable units, FirstNet’s Band 14 spectrum provides broader coverage, reaching remote and rural areas where commercial networks often fall short.
  • Enhanced Security: Security is paramount in public safety communications. FirstNet provides encrypted communications to protect sensitive data and ensure the integrity of vital information shared via Aquavx devices.
  • Resilience and Redundancy: FirstNet is designed to operate even under extreme conditions, with backup power sources and redundancy in place. This ensures continuous communication for Aquavx users during infrastructure failures or natural disasters.

“The Aquavx Pro and ProPlus, combined with FirstNet’s advanced capabilities, provide an effortless SCADA solution for water management operations that enhances monitoring and communications during mission-critical situations,” says Charles Christie, IoT Product Manager.
