History of Tyro Remotes

Tyro Remotes (now Cattron), founded in 1995, is a Dutch company specializing in radio remote controls for mobile equipment and industrial applications such as pumps, winches and axle-steering. Hydraulically and pneumatically driven applications can be controlled using a Tyro wireless remote control system. Its products are used in many sectors, including transportation, construction, agriculture, marine and industrial cleaning.

Expertise in Industrial Remote Control

In 1995, three Dutch companies in the transportation sector – Tijhof, Rolego and Linse – started the development of a radio remote control solution for the automotive market. Due to increased safety, extra operating comfort and increased efficiency, many applications were being controlled via a radio remote control solution. Together, the three companies decided to capitalize on this trend.

From there, Tyro Products B.V. was born, focusing its resources on research and development of radio remote controls in the automotive sector. The Tyro name honors the founders – Tijhof and Rolego – by blending the letters of their names. At this time, the VADO group (owner of Linse, former owner of DAF trucks) became the owner of Tyro Products BV.

Tyro presented a unique and highly flexible radio remote control to the market in 2002. The controlling system had an outstanding response time of 0.07 seconds and was also the first radio system with an e11 certification – giving Tyro systems approval for use on public roads.

In 2004, Tyro Products BV renamed the company to Tyro Remotes with a total commitment to driving growth in Europe. Tyro continued developing and producing radio remote controls, expanding its portfolio with an extensive range of products and options being launched in the years that followed. The team focused on establishing long-term partnerships and tailoring solutions to meet customer needs.

Advantages of a Tyro Radio Remote Control System

The Tyro portfolio is a proven solution for increasing customer safety and efficiency. For nearly 25 years, the dedicated experts at Tyro have focused their energy on the development and production of robust, high-quality systems that are easy to use. Due to its rugged housing, Tyro systems are dirt and water-resistant and can withstand shock and impacts. They are ergonomically designed, and the plug-and-play functionality makes installation easy.

It doesn’t stop there. Newer solutions include the 100% waterproof fully cast Aquarius receiver, which offers an IP68 waterproof rating and the Indus wireless emergency stop. New product developments are constantly being considered, with recent developments focused on adapting the Tyro products to meet global requirements.
