The History of Tyro Remotes
Tyro Remotes, a Dutch company, was founded in 1995 with a focus on developing fast, professional radio remote control systems for the automotive market. The first Tyro system was presented to the market in 2002. Over the years, the company established a strong reputation across Europe and the UK for providing reliable wireless control technologies that support operator mobility and enable fast and reliable wireless communication.
Tyro developed wireless remote control solutions for electrically, hydraulically and pneumatically operated equipment and became known for its adaptable control systems, ergonomic transmitters and modern design. Taking a collaborative engineering approach, Tyro Remotes spent much time working closely with customers to develop their ideal wireless control solutions.
Tyro Remotes Becomes Part of Cattron
In 2022, Tyro Remotes was acquired by Cattron, expanding Cattron’s industrial wireless remote control solutions portfolio and broadening its global reach. The acquisition combined Tyro’s remote control portfolio with Cattron’s broader range of radio remote control, engine control and monitoring solutions. The acquisition gave Tyro Remotes greater access to engineering and industry expertise, enabling the product line to expand globally.
Cattron has continued to invest in the Tyro product family following the acquisition of Tyro Remotes. In May 2024, Cattron launched the Tyro™ 2S product line, which was the next generation of Tyro wireless remote control solutions. The launch expanded Tyro’s global market presence, officially releasing Tyro products into the North American market and elevating it to a global brand.
